Whakaata Māori has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our dedicated Finance team.
He kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
In this role, the Financial Accountant will:
• Process journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, expenses, and revenue.
• Perform and manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Finalise accurate monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow.
• Assist with statutory accounts, disclosure notes, and the annual report.
• Oversee content amortisation compliance and collaborate on content production reporting.
• Prepare accurate cashflow forecasts.
• Manage the end-to-end Capex and Fixed Assets process.
• Support interim and final audit preparations.
• Partner with stakeholders and budget holders to meet financial targets.
• Contribute professional and constructive ideas.
• Provide backup support for accounts payable, receivable, banking, and contract services.
• Support the Finance Business Partner as needed.
• Manage payroll processes to ensure compliance with payroll-related legislation.
• Serve as ERP administrator, ensuring optimal ERP usage and managing user access in Greentree.
He kōrero mōu ake | About you
• CA/CPA Qualified
• Thorough understanding of the IPSAS/IFRS Reporting Standards
• 3+ years’ experience in a relevant role (at least 2 years post CA qualification).
• Sound financial accounting and processing knowledge.
• Cross-functional skills and ability to operate in different finance roles.
• Experience in accounts payable and payroll processing
• GST, RWT, NRWT, FBT and other tax returns knowledge
• Intermediate to advanced excel skills.
