At Whakaata Māori, we’re on a mission to share our stories, language and culture with the world. We’re not just creating media; we’re weaving the vibrant fabric of te ao Māori into everything we do. We are looking for an HR star who is experienced at influencing and providing trusted  strategic HR advice. This professional has a strong foundation and knowledge of HR and OD principles and practice, and is passionate about supporting kaihoe (staff) to be their best.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Work in partnership with our people leaders, collaborate closely with people leaders to manage end-to-end recruitment, facilitate effective onboarding, coach leaders, and offer expert support and guidance on all People & Capability matters.
  • Lead organisational and workforce development, Work with leaders to drive impactful training and development initiatives, including mentoring, succession planning, and talent development programs that support growth and sustainability.
  • Lead strategic P&C projects that elevate people and capability outcomes across Whakaata Māori, continuously enhancing our workplace and culture.

He kōrero mōu ake | About you

  • 5+ years of generalist HR experience with the ability to provide advice in employment relations, performance management, remuneration, change management and workforce planning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with good business judgement and a focus on kaihoe. An ability to be flexible and adaptable in the way you work.
  • A strong foundation and knowledge of HR and OD principles and practices.
  • An understanding of te ao Māori and a passion for integrating Māori cultural values into everything you do.
  • Fluency in te reo Māori, or a strong commitment to learning, is highly desirable.
