Mō te tūnga | About the role 

We are seeking a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team. 

This is a high-impact, organisation-wide role working closely with the Director of Finance as a trusted right-hand partner. You will provide strategic financial insight, governance-level reporting, and forward looking analysis that supports decision making at Executive, Board, and Ministerial level. 

You will lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, oversee content investment performance, contribute to long-term sustainability modelling, and play a key role in financial storytelling across the organisation. This role also offers exposure to ERP system administration (TechnologyOne), systems improvement initiatives, and cross-functional projects in a dynamic, purpose-led environment. 

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our head office in East Tāmaki. 

 

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities 

Strategic Reporting & Planning 

  • Lead monthly organisational reporting with clear variance analysis, trend insights, and forward-looking commentary 

  • Deliver executive- and governance-level reporting to ELT, Audit & Risk Committee, and Board 

  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles 

  • Maintain and enhance multi-year financial models (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow) 

  • Support external reporting including funding agencies and Select Committee outputs 

Production & Content Investment Oversight 

  • Provide financial oversight of production budgets and commitments 

  • Partner with content leaders to ensure financially sound commissioning decisions 

  • Monitor content investment performance and escalate risks early 

  • Work alongside the Financial Accountant to ensure accurate amortisation and funding recognition 

Business Partnering & Commercial Support 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the organisation 

  • Provide cost centre insights, scenario modelling, and investment evaluation 

  • Support procurement, contract renewals, and operational planning 

  • Tailor complex financial information into clear, accessible insights 

Systems, Process & Continuous Improvement 

  • Contribute to ERP (TechnologyOne) administration, testing, and data integrity 

  • Develop dashboards and tools to improve financial visibility 

  • Lead or contribute to finance process improvements 

  • Strengthen organisational financial literacy 

 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | What you’ll bring 

Essential 

  • CA or CPA qualified 

  • 4+ years’ experience in a Finance Business Partner or Management Accounting role (including 2+ years post qualification) 

  • Advanced financial modelling and Excel capability 

  • Proven experience leading budgeting and forecasting cycles 

  • Strong governance and executive-level report writing skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate financial data into clear, decision-ready insights 

Preferred 

  • Experience in a complex mid-to-large organisation 

  • Exposure to ERP implementation or system administration (TechnologyOne advantageous) 

  • Experience supporting multiple business units 

  • Process optimisation experience 

  • Fluency in te reo Māori (advantageous but not essential)
