Job Description

Te āheinga | The opportunity 
At Whakaata Māori, we embrace our role as a waka, driven by our passion to preserve and promote Māori stories, language, and culture. The Story Producer creates visually stunning, editorially powerful pieces of journalism that exemplify Te Ao Māori News storytelling.     

He kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
•    Identifies strong stories and delivers compelling content. 
•    Finds Te Ao Māori News angles on mainstream stories. 
•    Pitches original treatments, angles and voices.  
•    Supports the delivery of cohesive stories by coordinating the team, overseeing the delivery of story elements and ensuring quality standards are met.
•    Ensure journalist's stories are developing and being delivered as planned. 
He kōrero mōu ake | About you
•    Tertiary qualification in journalism, broadcasting, or communications 
•    5+ years’ experience in journalism 
•    5+ years’ experience in TV broadcasting 
•    Experience as a Story Producer role /Line Producer/Programme Editor/Reporter
